Role: Frontend Developer / UX Implementation / Booking System Development
Unlike a typical freelance or agency project, this was built while working inside the business itself. I joined Apekop Travel and Tours as a Web & Software Developer and was later promoted to Operations Supervisor, giving me a dual role that's uncommon for a developer: I built the platform, and I also ran the day-to-day operations that depended on it.
That combination meant every technical decision was informed by direct operational reality, ticket sales performance, staff scheduling, partner negotiations, and customer support, not just a spec handed down from someone else.
Overview
Apekop Travel & Tours is a transportation and tourism service provider offering boat transfers and curated travel experiences across key destinations in the Visayas region of the Philippines.
The platform covers three main service categories:
- Island Transfers: Inter-island transportation services for travelers
- Travel Packages: Curated tours and experiences around the island of Bohol
The website functions as both an informational platform and a booking system, allowing users to explore routes, view available packages, and book travel services directly online.
The goal of the project was to transform the platform into a structured, conversion-focused travel experience, improving clarity, usability, and booking efficiency for both local and international users.
