Role: Frontend Developer / UX Implementation / Booking System Development

This project was developed as part of my previous company responsibilities, where I worked on the implementation, frontend development, and UX improvement of the Apekop Travel & Tours platform.

My focus was on translating operational requirements into a structured, user-friendly travel website with an integrated booking system designed to support real-time tour reservations and service inquiries.

Overview

Apekop Travel & Tours is a transportation and tourism service provider offering boat transfers and curated travel experiences across key destinations in the Visayas region of the Philippines.

The platform covers three main service categories:

- Boat Transfers: Bohol - Cebu and Bohol - Siquijor routes

- Island Transfers: Inter-island transportation services for travelers

- Travel Packages: Curated tours and experiences around the island of Bohol

The website functions as both an informational platform and a booking system, allowing users to explore routes, view available packages, and book travel services directly online.

The goal of the project was to transform the platform into a structured, conversion-focused travel experience, improving clarity, usability, and booking efficiency for both local and international users.

Objective

The primary objective was to develop a website that:

- Clearly presents boat transfers, island routes, and tour packages

- Enables seamless online booking for travel services

- Improves user experience and navigation clarity

- Strengthens trust and credibility for online reservations

- Ensures full responsiveness across all devices

- Supports scalable expansion of routes and tour packages

- Optimizes conversion from browsing to booking

Challenges

The platform required addressing several UX and structural challenges:

- Multiple service types requiring clear categorization (transfers vs tours)

- Lack of structured hierarchy in presenting travel optionsn

- Limited optimization for mobile booking users

- Fragmented user journey from browsing to reservation

- Inconsistent layout structure across service sections

- Need for clearer communication of travel routes and packages

These issues affected both usability and booking efficiency.

Approach & Solution

A UX-driven, conversion-focused approach was applied to restructure and improve the platform.

1. Service Structuring & Categorization

All offerings were reorganized into clear sectionsu2014boat transfers, island transport, and tour packages, making it easier for users to quickly find relevant services.

2. Booking-Centered User Flow

The user journey was optimized to guide visitors from exploration to booking in a smooth and intuitive flow, reducing friction in the decision-making process.

3. Conversion-Oriented Interface Design

A cleaner UI structure with improved hierarchy and call-to-action placement was implemented to support booking engagement.

4. Mobile-First Optimization

The experience was refined for mobile users, ensuring travelers can browse routes and book services efficiently on the go.

5. UX Clarity for Travel Information

Travel routes, destinations, and packages were structured for better readability and quicker comprehension.

6. Performance & Frontend Optimization

The interface was optimized for speed, consistency, and smoother interaction across all devices.
